Much of our time has been spent calling your attention to federal and state issues but local entities are equally important. Decisions that impact the life of your family, neighborhood, county, and region are made in councils, commissions, and special planning programs run by city and county governments. We may not have a Saturday Civics action each weekend, but when we find something worth sharing we will send it out. Today, we share information about a proposal from the Atlanta Regional Commission. Deadline for comments is February 11th.
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is seeking public comment on a proposed update to the regional Transportation Improvement Program, or TIP, which would program federal and state funding for transportation projects across metro Atlanta.“Improving transportation in metro Atlanta requires a range of solutions, from providing greater transit access, addressing key bottlenecks, and improving pedestrian and bicycling options,” said John Orr, managing director of ARC’s Transportation and Mobility Access group. “We urge the public to review the projects and provide feedback so we can make sure we’re meeting the needs of our communities.”The full project list can be found at atlantaregional.org/amendment. Public comment is open through Feb. 11. All comments may be submitted to transportation@atlantaregional.org.A public hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 10 at ARC’s Transportation and Air Quality Committee, which will be held virtually.
